Bud Deffebach

Bud Deffebach Bud was a Patent Attorney for the Atlanta-based intellectual property law firm Jones & Askew, and also served as Senior Licensing and Litigation Counsel for the semiconductor sector of Harris Corporation.

Bud was a partner with ATLC, Ltd., a patent licensing firm, representing entities including Kodak, Cypress Semiconductor, and AT&T, before becoming an active angel investor in 2008. Bud Deffebach co-founded the Groundswell incubator in Melbourne, Florida and is an active board member, investor and advisor to companies including Droplit, Audigence, Sarda, NexStreem, ZippSlip, 3D WiFi and others.

Bud received his BSEE from the University of Florida in 1988 and his JD from Emory University in 1992.

John Goehrke, CEO

John Goehrke, CEO John Goehrke brings over 30 years of sales, marketing and general management experience to HexaTech. Most recently, he was CEO at Centice Corporation, a provider of unique technology and systems for identification and verification of chemical substances.

Previously, he was CEO at Nextreme Thermal Solutions, a leader in thin-film thermoelectrics, which was sold to Laird Technologies in February 2013. Other operational roles include CEO of siXis Inc., pioneers of advanced Silicon Circuit Board (SiCB) technology, and COO of Luna Innovations, where he was part of the executive management team that successfully completed an Initial Public Offering. Previous to Luna Innovations, John was CEO of Luna Technologies and General Manager of Acterna’s Access Division, based in Germantown, MD, and the Fiber Optics Division based in St. Etienne, France.

Mitch Mumma, InterSouth Partners

Mitch Mumma Mitch joined Intersouth Partners in 1989, and is primarily responsible for Intersouth's technology portfolio. He has held management positions with various companies throughout his career, including three start-up companies, all of which subsequently went public. Mitch is known for board and syndicate leadership as well as tireless focus on portfolio company success. He has provided early financing and venture leadership for numerous successful companies and served as CEO of an Intersouth portfolio company.

Prior to joining Intersouth, Mitch worked in finance and operations for a high growth computer hardware and software company. Previously, he worked as a manager in the high growth business practice at Touche Ross & Co. (now Deloitte & Touche). Mitch is a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Duke's Fuqua School of Business. In addition, he has served as a mentor to the Kauffman Foundation's Kauffman Venture Fellows Program. Mitch is a frequent speaker on the topic of venture capital and an adjunct professor at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC where he teaches a course on venture capital. He received an A.B. in management science from Duke University.

Dr. Raoul Schlesser, CTO, Co-Founder

Dr. Raoul Schlesser, CTO Raoul has over 25 years of experience in experimental physics, including nonlinear optics, solid state physics, crystal growth and nitride semiconductors.

He has been an Associate Research Professor at North Carolina State University and has co-authored over 130 publications. He currently manages the Crystal Growth and Wafering operations at HexaTech.
